In response to the financial challenges faced by federal employees on furlough, Catholic Charities DC of the Archdiocese of Washington will offer limited financial aid to these workers during the government shutdown. Assistance will be available to anyone with a valid government employee or federal contractor ID.
Financial assistance will be provided to help offset the costs of immediate needs including rent, essential home supplies, medical services, and transportation needs.
Due to the snowstorm that hit the Washington area, the outreach planned for Monday Jan. 14 at Catholic Charities' James Cardinal Hickey Center will now be provided on Thursday Jan. 17. Here is the revised schedule:
Tuesday Jan. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Susan D. Mona Center, 5859 Allentown Way, Temple Hills, Maryland
Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southern Maryland Food Bank, 22A Irongate Drive, Waldorf, Maryland
Thursday Jan. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the James Cardinal Hickey Center, 924 G St N.W., Washington, D.C.
